The Dog And The Meat

 The Dog and the Meat

There was once a dog named Bingo who lived with a woman in a small village. Bingo loved meat, but his owner rarely gave him any. She only fed him scraps of vegetables and grains, which he hated.

One day, the woman cooked a big pot of soup with meat and left it on the fire to simmer. She went out to the market to buy some spices and other ingredients. Bingo smelled the delicious aroma of the soup and his mouth watered. He could not resist the temptation and jumped on the pot. He grabbed a large piece of meat with his teeth and ran away.

The woman came back from the market and saw the pot empty. She was furious and looked around for Bingo. She saw him running away with the meat in his mouth. She screamed and chased after him, shouting for help. "Thief! Thief! Help me catch this dog! He stole my meat!" she cried. The villagers heard her and joined the chase. They ran after Bingo with sticks and stones, trying to hit him. Bingo was scared and ran faster. He dodged the obstacles and the attacks, but he did not drop the meat. He was determined to enjoy his prize. He ran out of the village and into the bush. He found a safe spot under a tree and ate the meat with delight. He licked his paws and his mouth, savoring the taste. He felt full and happy. He decided to stay in the bush for a while, until the woman and the villagers calmed down. He did not want to go back home and face their anger. He thought he could find more food and freedom in the wild.

He did not know that the bush was full of dangers. There were snakes, leopards, hyenas, and other predators that would not hesitate to attack him. He also did not know that the meat he ate was poisoned. The woman had put some poison in the soup to kill the rats that infested her house. She had forgotten to take it out before leaving for the market. Soon, Bingo started to feel sick. He felt a sharp pain in his stomach and his head. He felt dizzy and weak. He realized that he had made a terrible mistake. He wished he had never stolen the meat. He wished he had stayed with his owner, who despite her stinginess, loved him and cared for him. He tried to get up and go back to the village, but he could not. He collapsed on the ground and breathed his last. He died alone and miserable, with no one to mourn him. The woman and the villagers never found him. They assumed he had escaped to another place. They felt sorry for him, but they also felt relieved. They did not have to worry about him stealing their food anymore.

They did not know that he had paid a high price for his greed. They did not know that he had learned a hard lesson too late.
The end.
