Ungrateful Wife

 The Ungrateful Wife

Chukwunwoke was a poor man who lived in a rented room with his wife, Ngozi. He had lost his job as a driver due to the pandemic and was struggling to find another one. Ngozi worked as a saleswoman at a supermarket and earned a small salary. She was the one who paid the rent and bought the food. She was always unhappy with their situation and treated Chukwunwoke with contempt. She would nag him, insult him, and sometimes even slap him. She would say things like “You are a useless man, you can’t even provide for your family. You are a burden to me. I regret marrying you.” Chukwunwoke loved his wife, but he felt humiliated and hopeless.

One day, Chukwunwoke received a phone call from his uncle, who lived in Lagos. His uncle told him that he had won a contract to supply some goods to a big company and that he needed Chukwunwoke’s help. He asked him to come to Lagos as soon as possible and promised to pay him well. Chukwunwoke was overjoyed and thanked his uncle. He ran home to tell his wife the good news.

Ngozi was shocked and suspicious when Chukwunwoke told her about his uncle’s offer. She thought he was lying to her or that his uncle was a fraudster. She demanded to see the proof and the money. Chukwunwoke assured her that it was true and that he would send her some money as soon as he got to Lagos. He asked her to pack his bags and get ready to see him off. He also told her that he loved her and wanted to make her happy.

Ngozi felt a surge of anger and jealousy. She thought that Chukwunwoke didn’t deserve the opportunity and that she should have it for herself. She decided to sabotage him and take his place. She waited until he fell asleep and then took his phone and his bag. She called his uncle and pretended to be Chukwunwoke’s sister. She told him that Chukwunwoke had fallen sick and couldn’t travel. She asked him to send her the details of the contract and the address of the company. She then deleted the call history and the messages from his phone. She left him a note saying that she had gone to visit her mother and that she would be back soon. She took a taxi to the bus station and bought a ticket to Lagos.

However, Ngozi’s plan failed. She arrived in Lagos and met Chukwunwoke’s uncle, who recognized her as his wife. He was angry and disappointed. He asked her where Chukwunwoke was and why she had lied to him. Ngozi tried to make up an excuse, but he didn’t believe her. He called Chukwunwoke and told him what had happened. He also told him to come to Lagos immediately and that he would pay for his ticket. He then sent Ngozi away and told her to never contact him again.

Chukwunwoke woke up and found the note and his phone. He was confused and worried. He tried to call his wife, but she didn’t answer. He tried to call his uncle, but he couldn’t reach him. He thought that something bad had happened to them. He prayed and hoped that they were safe.

Meanwhile, Ngozi tried to find the company that Chukwunwoke’s uncle had mentioned, but she couldn’t. She realized that she had been duped and that she had lost everything. She had no money, no phone, no bag, and no husband. She regretted her actions and wished that she had been kind to Chukwunwoke. She cried and begged for forgiveness.

Chukwunwoke received a call from his uncle, who explained everything to him. He was heartbroken and betrayed, but he also felt sorry for his wife. He wondered why she hated him so much and what he had done wrong. He forgave her and asked his uncle to help her. He also thanked his uncle and accepted his offer. He took a bus to Lagos and met his uncle. He apologized for the trouble and thanked him for his generosity.

Chukwunwoke’s uncle took him to the company and introduced him to the manager. He gave him the contract and the goods. He also gave him some money and a car. He told him that he was proud of him and that he wanted to help him succeed. He also told him that he had arranged for his wife to return to Port Harcourt and that he hoped that they would reconcile.

Chukwunwoke completed the contract and delivered the goods. He earned a lot of money and a good reputation. He decided to use it for good causes. He donated some of it to the church and some of it to charities that helped the poor. He also bought a new house and a car, but he lived modestly and generously. He forgave his wife and visited her in Port Harcourt. He hoped that she would change and find happiness.

Chukwunwoke became known as the successful businessman who had a big heart and a tragic story. He was admired and respected by many people. He was happy and grateful, but he also missed his wife. He wished that they could have shared his fortune and happiness together. He prayed for her and hoped that one day, they would be reunited.
