Breaking The Silence
Breaking The Silence
She had been silent for too long. She had endured the abuse, the humiliation, the fear, and the pain. She had tried to escape, but he always found her. He always threatened her, hurt her, and silenced her. He made her feel worthless, hopeless, and helpless.
But she was not alone. She had a friend, a confidant, a protector. He was her neighbor, her classmate, her crush. He had noticed her bruises, her scars, her tears. He had tried to help her, to comfort her, to love her. He made her feel valued, hopeful, and strong.
One night, he heard her scream. He ran to her house, broke the door, and saw him. He was on top of her, hitting her, choking her. He grabbed a vase, smashed it on his head, and pulled him off her. He called the police, wrapped her in a blanket, and held her close. He made her feel safe, warm, and alive.
She looked at him, with gratitude, admiration, and love. She opened her mouth, and for the first time in years, she spoke. She said his name, she said thank you, she said I love you. She broke the silence, and he kissed her. He made her feel heard, seen, and loved.
